Terry grew up in Riverside, CA attending the First Baptist Church. He graduated from Redlands University, where he met Pat in December of 1967.  He began his teaching career in 1968, teaching band, mostly at El Cerrito High and Contra Costa College. Terry became the Richmond District’s Director of Music Education in 1982, eventually becoming a high school principal. Retiring in 2007 as principal of Sonora High School Terry still mentors new principals. Terry attended the First Baptist Churches in Richmond and Sonora, Ca. where he was Chairman of the Board of both churches and served on the Board of Growing Health Churches. He was actively involved in helping over 20 churches build improvement plans. Terry currently lives in Tennessee and has two sons and four grandchildren. Terry is the founding president of Pat’s Pocket, creating the foundation to honor God and his wife.
Scott Nanik is a veteran educational leader with over 25 years of experience in California public schools, currently heading the Bret Harte Union High School District in California. A former Calaveras County Superintendent of Schools, he brings a proven track record in fiscal stewardship, capital projects, STEM integration, and crisis management.
Nanik holds a degree from San Jose State University alongside teaching and administrative credentials. Honored with the 2020 ACSA Region 7 Bob Price Distinguished Service Award, he remains actively involved in professional boards, educational leadership organizations, and local community groups.
Daniel Gates, husband to Edith for 62 years; parents of daughters Stephanie and Elonne and grandparents to two grandsons in college. A retired American Baptist pastor of 38 years, completing his career as Area Minister to 57 churches of five cultures in the Central San Joaquin Valley of California. Past President of American Baptist Churches of the West, serving 320 churches. A graduate of Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas and Central Baptist Theological Seminary of Kansas City, Kansas.
Over the past 14 years, Dan and Edie have been serving as Alpha group leaders in a 250 person residental addication recovery ministry known as Healing House of Kansas City.
With a background in community organizing, Steve leads our outreach identifying workers in need and connecting them with resources.
Howard brings 40+ years of experience in non-profit leadership. A graduate from UC Berkeley in Software Design/Development, later adding a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Howard has helped 330+ small businesses and 50+ non-profit organizations through Organizational Transformation, Strategic Modernization, and practical AI Enablement. He is often brought into environments where priorities, stakeholders, and execution have become fragmented, helping leadership teams restore clarity, alignment, and forward momentum. Howard sits on several non-profit boards, and co-leads two programs for addiction recovery. Howard and his wife Nancy live near Yosemite in California.
